Aaron Parrett was born in Butte and graduated from the Project for Alternative Learning in Helena. He earned a BA in Philosophy from UM, and a Master’s Degree and Doctorate from UGA in Comparative Literature. He has published widely in many fields. His books include Out of Earth’s Cradle: The Translunar Narrative in the Western Tradition (2004), Montana Then and Now (2014), Literary Butte: A History in Novels and Film (2015), and Maple & Lead (2017). He has taught on the faculty of University of Providence for almost twenty years. He is also the curator at The Territorial Press in Helena, a letterpress shop devoted to fine editions of Montana literature. Their catalogue includes Himself Adrift by Matt Pavelich (book designed by Peter Koch), Curses (2015), An Abecedary Of Philosophers both Ancient and Modern Who Advanced Proofs of the Existence of Montana Ontological and Otherwise (2017), and Maple & Lead.
