Leanne Zainer

Leanne Zainer, Ph.D., teaches composition and American Indian Literature for the Minnesota State college system and, whenever possible, for Blackfeet Community College in Browning, Montana. At the tribal college, she and her students saddle up and head to the mountains, integrating photography and writing to capture their experiences in courses such as Writing and Riding and The Horse in Literature Film and Song.

She also helps out at Wounded Bear Trail Rides, a native-owned business that allows tourists to meet local guides and access the stunning country around Glacier National Park. Leanne is currently completing a memoir, titled Backbone, of her adventures with Blackfeet and Chippewa Cree cowboys.
